NNU- Northwest Networking Umbrella

NNU is an event that premiered this year. It happens on a Friday the week before Thanksgiving and is a great opportunity for local up -an-coming talent to meet and network with industry professionals. The Northwest Networking Umbrella is a huge show that promotes music, dance, art, vendors, and fashion. Ultimately, it was an event like a giant fashion and art festival. The show is landing on November 18th of next year and it will be even bigger! And the best part is...that the show is at a ready-to-wear professional level. The designers are crafty freelancers and high end design groups including bridal. In fact, the Redmond Reporter printed two pages about NNU! I've included some photos from the show of some of the best up and coming designers. Readers, you can find more info on the NNU blog:

I would like to give credits to Hair Stylist/Nail professional Luda Topp who did the amazing up do's in the show:!/profile.php?id=100001214772933

I would also like to credit the NAKED make-up and hair team that worked backstage and was run by Jessie Anna Campbell. The models walked her amazing make-up skills on the NNU runway:

And lastly I would like to give credit to Alexandra Grigorieva who was the backstage make-up/hair creative director and stylist. You can find more of her work on her website:

And now for the amazing FASHION of SEATTLE!-Cant wait for next year!!

Craft Night-Painting the Hallway Ceiling

Painting the hallway ceiling in murals is like going back to the Renaissance or the Roman Empire...inspired by modern art one creates a world that they can escape to; painting forests and mythology on their walls and ceiling.
The aztec tree of life is painted by Mariam Hovhannisyan modern surrealist. Her art can be viewed at:

IMAGINE Fashion Show 2010 IADT Seattle

The International Academy of Design and Technology in Seattle puts on an annual fashion show with submissions of work from some of the students. The school also awards prizes for the best of show and the best in each category. In my opinion these decisions are often biased and irrelevant when talking about good fashion. Good fashion is well constructed and skillfully made, it is also modern and interesting. Fashion shows are about showmanship and also about innovation.
Several of these designers also appeared at the Northwest Networking Umbrella event (NNU) of 2010 so I will discuss their work selectively in a later post (Including Carol Franklin who won best of evening and creates amazing, skillfully crafter garments, Laksmi Mckenna-up-and-coming designer, Olga Earle designer of the year for IMAGINE 2010 etc). But some of the other designers work stands apart and shows skill to move forward in the design world.

Fashion News in SEATTLE Washington

One of the coolest fashion events in Seattle is when the Bunka Women's Academy from Japan makes its annual trip to the US to showcase the latest collection of costumes from the school. The students stop at Seattle and put on a fashion show every year in September. What's fantastic about this isn't the costumes in the show alone, but the way the viewers dress as well.
I guarantee that coming to this fashion show will be one of the only times that a Seattlite will find that many lolitas in one room. A very cool experience and tradition:
